Nice Surprise!

Just got back from a month-long holiday and a wonderful surprise awaited me in the mail!

Thank you very much Lori Anderson for your thoughtfulness.  You're a top-notch host for sure!!

Artfully packaged with a hand-written note.

A gorgeous lot of beads, brass and charms.  The charms are actually pennies!

And some yummy handmade glass!
I won't let one bad partner experience keep me from enjoying your bead blog hops in the future.  Thanks again!

Sandra's Bead Soup Reveal

It's Lori Anderson's 7th Bead Soup Blog Party Reveal Day.  I've cooked up a number of pieces from the soup that my partner Erin Kenny sent me.
First up - the Focal

Sometimes simple is best so I highlighted the flecks of copper in the glass lamp work focal with glass beads and thin copper chain.
Matching earrings.
Up next - the Toggle

I made a casual bracelet utilizing this lovely silver toggle and stone beads included in the soup.

The focal and toggle were the only soup items that were mandatory to be used - not necessarily together.
And then I started playing with the mookaite and came up with a lovely watch.
And matching earrings.
The two wire wrapped stones had me stumped but I came up with this bracelet which I really love!

Thank you for dropping by my blog to see how I used my soup!  Namaste.

Gypsy Goes Urban!

A while back the local news featured a website called Made UrbanMade Urban is a place that supports local artisans and helps you find their hand made items in your area.  The concept really appealed to my inner muse so I signed up and have added all my Gypsy Road Beads jewelry to the Made Urban site.  This is a very affordable alternative to an on-line store.  It's also the perfect venue for me to keep active and I love that my friends, family and clients have a place on the web to browse my wares.  I hope you check it out!

Here are a few of the items for sale:

Trendy Bracelet featuring Turquoise

Beautiful Necklace featuring Green Lapis with Pyrite

Stunning Necklace featuring Green Lampwork & Onyx

Bracelet featuring Onyx & Moonstone

Classy Bracelet featuring Moonstone & Dancing Pearls

Every Day Necklace featuring Turquoise

Spring Fever!

Oh yes, I think I have spring fever.  Yesterday I set up shop in the solarium and created a few new pieces.  Here's a simple kyanite bracelet that sparkles so nicely in the sun.

I'm crazy for pearls.  This feminine necklace has grey and burgundy fresh water pearls wire wrapped together with a lovely mother-of-pearl pendant that can be worn either way.
Next up is my take on a multi-gemstone wire wrapped (including amythest, phrenite, quartz) necklace inspired by Lori Anderson from her book 'Bead Soup'.
I'm starting to love the look of mixed metals.  This necklace is my take on what was pictured on the back of the package of rings
Green has got to be my all-time favorite color.  I just love how the silver swirls set off these beautiful jaspers.  It's destined to be worn around the neck of my friend Valerie who recently helped me out with a little bathroom design dilemna.....!
Off coral how I love thee.  The beautiful Tibetan silver focal is inlaid with coral.  So pretty.
I took apart a necklace and bracelet set that I made a couple years ago and reinvented the beads to make this stunning lampwork necklace featuring a gorgeous carved onyx cross.
 Here's another pic.
Wanna see my new puppy, Buster?
Hey - thanks for dropping by and Namaste!

My Soup Is On Simmer!

My soup for Lori Anderson's 7th Bead Soup Blog Hop arrived today!  Here are the details:

The Soup:

I'm so excited to get creating with this beautiful soup from my partner Erin Kenny.  There is plenty of design potential here!  Thank you so much Erin!  I love the color palette.

The Focal:

What an interesting group of focals.  I've never incorporated wire wrapped stones into my work so this will be a first for me. I love that lamp work bead and can't wait to wear it!  It's a deep purple with flecks of gold and a vibrant blue flower.

The Beads:

I'm madly in love with these 2-hole Mookaite ovals.  They're so gorgeous and shiny!  The photo reminds me of lipstick samples!
The Toggle:

I've seen a lot of toggles but have yet to come across this one!  I love its clean, simple design and the wonderful texture. Look at all this goodness!

I'm not sure what these guys are but I can see them on my wrist!  I've got a thousand ideas running through my mind!

The Spice:

A spoon full of mookaite!  Love it.

So, what do you think?  Looks like fun huh!  Erin & I will reveal our works on April 13th!  Thanks for dropping by today and Namaste!

Bead Soup Arrives at Destination!

My partner for Lori Anderson's 7th Bead Soup Blog Party, Erin Kenny has reported that she is in receipt of her soup!  Therefore, I can share with the world what I sent to ErinWe will swap a focal, toggle and some beads and create something spectacular and reveal it on April 13th!

Erin and I are both from Canada, eh!  Here's a couple of focals to choose from.  A trio of a cool Copper Bead, a Carved Jasper oval and an Aventurine Brio all temporarily wired together or a Wavy Jasper rectangle.  Use one or use them all - the choice is yours Erin!

I'm a toggle freak and I like choices so I included all these tried and true toggles in beautiful copper.

The Beads:

Oooh, ahhh.....beautiful Aventurine and dyed orange Howlite all drilled corner to corner.

And a few more beads:

Sparkling Swarovski Crystals, Jasper and Aventurine rounds.

The Extra's:

Copper chain and earring fixings.  Not everyone designs with copper so I made sure (this time) that I included crimps, covers and wire guards!

Doesn't this look like fun?

All wrapped up and ready for the mailOh, I can't wait to see what Erin cooks up with the soup ingredients.  April 13th is our reveal day.

Thank you for stopping by my blog today.  Please feel free to leave a comment - I'd love to hear from you.  Namaste!
